Together we act!
Civic society as an active player in collective sponsorship for persons seeking asylum

Call for applications | Erasmus+

Together we act! welcomes applications from residents in Germany and Portugal between 20-27 years: All those that are engaged in migration and asylum policies or practices and are eager to work for more legal pathways for persons seeking asylum in the EU. We explicitly welcome applications of persons that have refugee experience themselves. Together we will reprocess your personal experiences and knowledge and identify key elements along the process that have supported or complicated your own arrival in society or that of persons you have accompanied. The processed knowledge will be used to consult the freshly initiated network EASA:Together (European Alliance for Solidarity Action) that consists of NGOs working in innovative community-building and integration based on art, culture and permaculture, the Portuguese Refugee Council, universities and legal experts and researchers. The networks’ aim is to improve collective sponsorship processes in Portugal, Spain and Germany – the reception of persons with refugee experience by groups of private individuals or initiatives. We understand your experience, knowledge and action as crucial for the creation of a more human, tolerant, diverse and respectful transcultural society.

How? Together we will examine the possibilities of collective sponsorship and learn how to develop your own activist skills and projects for a more sustainable and resilient Europe. For a timeframe of 12 months you will be supported to build up an internal structure and establish yourselves as a network partner of EASA:Together. During this time, you will attend upskilling modules in e.g., regenerative design, asylum and migration law in Portugal, Spain and Germany, urban intervention and artistic expression in activist work and strategic consultancy (these modules will be finally defined together, depending on your needs). Supported by us, you will consult the network stakeholders for the further collective sponsorship process design and support the legal geography researchers to work on legal recommendations that support integration. Further, we will have three on-site meetings:

September 22-26, 2024, Germany, Oberhausen, at NGO and art center kitev

February, 2025, Portugal (exact days and place, tbc),

August, 2025, Germany (exact days and place, tbc).
